The online job market in the UK continues to show signs of recovery in November, results of a survey by online employment solutions company Monster Worldwide showed. The Monster Employment Index UK rose two points to 116 in November, climbing for the second month in a row. In October, the index had risen sharply to 114 from 107 in September. A year ago, the index stood at 152.

The escalating food and energy bills are putting pressure on household finances around the world. In the UK it’s just been announced that the minimum wage will rise to £5.73 in October. This is a 3.8% rise from £5.52 - for 18 to 21-year-olds the rate will be £4.77, up from £4.60, while 16 to 17-year-olds will get £3.53, up from £3.40.

It is ironic that Hays, the recruitment specialist that has announced 900 UK redundancies in the past year, has published a list of the most recession-resilient jobs. The listing of roles for which there is high demand at the recruitment firm includes underwriters, claims staff and internal auditors. There is also incredible demand for high end financial advisers with companies like Edward Jones - recently voted one of the top companies to work for in the world!
