Good news despite the recession.
There’s a bright side to almost any unwelcome development, isn’t there? Lose a love and you may also lose some unwanted pounds. Lose an ear-ring at a party and you might make a friend in the person who helps you look for it. Lose your job and you may end up in a new one that you like more. There are even bright spots in this recession.
From second hand stores, to repair shops, to auto garages - the recession brings new opportunities to plenty of small businesses, and this is were you may find a change of career in these dark economic days. Sometimes it’s better to have a little of something than a lot of nothing. Its like being offered a confirmed lottery winning ticket with 5 numbers, or take a gamble with a ticket that could win millions in the next draw or not.
We are now in the time of major change. In fact I would say we are regressing, we are going back to basics. This may be a blessing in disguise as it will expose what we really need in life to make us happy. So for now stop thinking of the new car, the holiday on a tropical island. Instead begin thinking of not just the next few weeks or months but the next 3, 5, 10 and 15 years. The reason behind that advice is because employers are now going to be specific about who they employ. They will expect and want commitment, long term commitment from the people they employ. It costs a company to recruit and they don’t want to be wasting money on continually filling a post over and over again.
So when you’re not on a car or holiday web site, go to www.employersjobs.com. It doesn’t promise you a car or a holiday, no. But it will give you job vacancies one of which just may change your life today, tomorrow the next 3, 5 10 and 15 years.
